Danielle is the principal of Danielle Lundberg and Associates, a Melbourne-based practice offering Psychological Counselling, Family Law Counselling, Mediation, Family Dispute Resolution and Parent Coordination.
The practice reflects Danielle’s long-standing commitment to helping families navigate separation in a calm and collaborative manner. Danielle’s approach is based on her extensive experience as a registered Psychologist and an active member of Melbourne’s Family Law Community.
Danielle’s background in psychology informs our approach; separation can be emotionally challenging, clients need to be understood and supported, and children’s needs are central. Our approach supports clients to manage their emotions, and identify and respectfully express their needs. The primary focus of the process is the psychological, emotional and developmental needs of the children. We inform clients, facilitate conversations and guide the mediation process to achieve outcomes that enable children, clients and separated families to thrive.
Counselling is a process that enables a client to work through concerns or difficulties affecting their life.
There are many different reasons that a client may seek help from a counsellor. Some clients need help for personal, social, relationship or work problems. Others seek help for a mental health condition. Couples often seek help as a way of effectively discussing their concerns so they can strengthen their connection and relationship.
We use evidence-based strategies and interventions to help people overcome their challenges, build stronger and more fulfilling relationships, and achieve their life goals.
Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) is a process used to help separating couples discuss and resolve family disputes, both children and financial, away from the Court.
While the process of FDR suggests “negotiation”, we facilitate clients to have thoughtful, respectful and informed conversations about their children and their finances.
In children’s matters, we take time to understand the individual needs of the children. We listen to parent’s concerns and goals. Throughout the process our skilled professionals ensure that the developmental and psychological needs of the child are central to the agreements reached.
In financial matters, we work with skilled financial specialists to ensure the thorough collection of financial information. We ensure clients understand all options before making decisions.
Our goal is to optimise families financial outcomes. We support clients to make informed agreements and achieve outcomes that enable them to see their future clearly
In some cases, clients may be required by the Court to see a counsellor for non-reportable counselling.
Agreements may be reached during the Court process however, that does not mean that the issues that have led the clients to Court have been resolved. Counselling, at this time, can help clients to identify issues that remain in dispute and are negatively impacting on their co-parenting relationship and as a result their children.
We take the time to understand client’s concerns and work with them to find strategies that are meaningful and effective
Sometimes clients need support to parent after mediation or after Court.
Parenting coordination is a child focused, alternative dispute resolution process. We are experienced professionals who assist high conflict clients to understand and implement their interim or final ordered parenting agreement. We facilitate resolutions in a timely manner, support parents to be child focused and, in some cases, make recommendations.
Clients can agree to seek help from a Parenting Coordinator, or they can be referred by the Court or a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. This process may be Reportable to the court.
As experienced family dispute resolution practitioners and family mediators, we have expertise in supporting families through the challenging legal processes that can accompany the formalization of separated family life.
This confidential individual support service is designed to assist individuals as they navigate various aspects of the separation process, including preparation for family law mediation, preparation for court appearances and preparation for family report sessions.
